High Amperage Fixed Vacuum Capacitor (pat. pend.)

Traditionally, RF designers have used fixed ceramic capacitors of various manufacturers, often in banks, either in parallel or in series, to arrive at their desired capacitance values. Sometimes, these designs were current limited and/or showed considerable temperature coefficients.

Based on the proven properties of ceramic vacuum capacitors, COMET has developed a family of high Q, high amperage fixed capacitors that are very compact in size.

This new family of fixed vacuum capacitors is sold under the trade mark MINI-CAP™ featuring a simple and rugged design and showing a hold off voltage of 15 kV peak test. Typical current capability with pure convection cooling is 70 Arms at 13.56 MHz. With additional cooling the MINI-CAP™ is even capable to operate at levels above 100 Arms.

Five standard versions with capacitance values of 25, 50, 100, 150 and 200 pF are available from stock. Standard tolerance on the capacitance is ± 5 %. Other capacitance values and tighter tolerances are available on request. All capacitors are of identical dimensions.

COMET's unique design concept of the MINI-CAP™ allows minimum internal inductance and features good electrical connections as required in RF systems. This in turn permits reliable operation at 100 MHz and higher.
